Dr. Fia Yi is double board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery. Dr. Yi joined University Health Alliance in 2023.
A graduate of Emory University in Atlanta, GA, Dr. Yi received degrees in biology and music. She graduated from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD where she received her doctoral degree in medicine.
Dr. Yi completed a general surgery residency at Wilford Hall/ University of Texas in San Antonio, TX and a Colorectal Surgery fellowship at Georgia Colon and Rectal Surgical Clinic in Atlanta, GA. During her career, she was the Air Force Surgeon General’s consultant for Colorectal surgery as well as Division Chief of Colorectal Surgery prior to separating from the Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel. Most recently she was the Robotic Surgery Medical Director for Lee Health in Fort Myers, FL where she was also in private practice prior to arriving in Athens.
Dr. Yi is an active member of the American College of Surgeons, American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, Society of Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, and the Society of Military Surgeons.
In her spare time, Dr. Yi enjoys spending time hiking, exercising, and cooking.
